The more difficult your house is to break in to, the less likely a burglar is to attempt a break-in. To that end, we at WebCenturion would like to offer these tips to help you to make your home/business as "burglar resistant" as possible.

1. Cut bushes away from first floor windows and doors and prune tree limbs away from second story windows

8. Install a fence, with thorny bushes planted at the base and/or thorny vines trained to climb up

2. Plant thorny bushes below windows

7. Lock all exterior windows

3. Create a simple database of your family's possessions on a room-by-room basis. Describe all valuables, (record model and serial numbers, etc) and note the date purchased and estimate replacement values. You can also include photographs or video tapes of each item

8. Store important valuables in a safe deposit box or home safe. Put little used jewelry, stamp and coin collections, stock certificates, bonds, deeds, wills, passports, and other important documents in this box or safe

4. Have reflective address numbers in a visible locations on the front and back of your house. This makes it easy for emergency personnel to locate your home

9. Engrave your driver's license, social security number or other important number on all valuable items

5. Keep property entrances locked with weather resistant padlocks

10. Install gravel paths near bedroom windows to alert you to a prowler

6. Install shatterproof glass or purchase security filmed glass panes for windows and doors

11. Ask your hardware store about the best way to secure sliding glass doors

7. Install and use dead bolt locks on all exterior entrance doors

12. Leave a spare key with a trusted neighbor, not anywhere outside
