We at WebCenturion believe that in the old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". In other words, it is better to stop something before it starts than to try and fix it later. To that end, we give these general safety tips so that your "ounce of prevention" is both effective and efficient.

1. Have a WebCenturion Remote Security Monitoring System installed ASAP.

6. Never leave a spare key hidden anywhere outside An experienced burglar will know all the usual places.

2. Burglars keep away from a house that looks lived in. To achieve that affect, keep the radio on when you are out, and use timers to operate your lights in key areas.

7. Light up your home with well-placed, effective lighting and make it easier to spot unwelcome visitors. Also, be sure to trim hedges, foliage, and trees that create effective hiding spots

3. Install dead bolt locks and shatterproof on all glass exterior entrances and/or windows.

8. Make sure that your answering machine message doesn't imply that you're not home.

4. Report any suspicious behavior.

9. Make sure your smoke detectors are up to code and are operational.

5. Install peepholes so you can screen your visitors. Ask to see identification from service and delivery people before letting them in.

10. Secure upstairs windows and doors that are accessible from the outside by installing bars, extra locks, more sensors, etc.
